2024 Asia Pacific Trail Running Championships

The International Trail Running Association (ITRA) will be organising the inaugural Asia Pacific Trail Running Championships (ATC) in the second half of 2024.

The ATC is where Asia's best trail runners will compete in individual and team categories, over distances of ~40 km and ~80 km. There will also be a U21 category to encourage the younger generation to take up the sport.

It is intended that the ATC will be held on a biennial basis, in even numbered years.

Hosting Opportunity: To be held between 1 July and 31 December 2024

Competition Formats (please refer to World Athletics Rule 57 for more details on race formats):

1. The Long Trail (ca. 80km, 3,500-6,000m total elevation gain, ITRA category “L”).
2. The Short Trail (ca. 40km, 2,000-3,000m total elevation gain, ITRA category “S”).
3. U23 (ca. 14 -20 km).

Hosting Rights: Full commercial rights are granted to the local organising committee (including Title Sponsorships, Partnerships, Media and Broadcasting Rights, Expo sales, as well as Mass Participation Entry Fees etc.).

Hosting Fee to be paid to ITRA: USD40000

HOSTING REQUIREMENTS:

• Appropriate trails for the number of competitors.
• Transport provided between hotels, venues, airports and other event-related locations.
• Full board accommodation in a 3* hotel (or superior) for athletes, officials and media for a period of 3-4 nights.
• Number of expected athletes and officials: 350 - 400.
• Number of athletes and officials per country allowed: 40.

BID PROCEDURE TIMELINE:

1. Announcement of Event: October 2023
2. Expression of Interest Deadline: 30 November 2023
3. Final Bid Application Deadline: 20 December 2023
4. Event Award: 10 February 2024
