Races of the week - May 2-8

Each week, ITRA proposes to discover trail-running races from around de world. This week, we are going to travel from Spain to Denmark, but also France. The world is trail ! 

Transvulcania Ultramarathon La Palmas Island / Spain

Who doesn't know the Transvulcania ? 

Created in 2009, this long distance trail-running race has become one of the most difficult ultramarathons mountain. 73,5 Km, 4260 meters of elevation gain, in less than 17 hours. Between sand, rocks and trails, the Transvulcania takes riders to the top of the highest point on the island of La Palma : the Roque de los Muchachos (2426 m).

The Transvulcania is one of the "classic" in the world of trail-running, and also one of the stages of Skyrunner World Series Ultra. This year, as for each edition, the "big names" of the elite riders will start the Transvulcania with the aim to include the classic to their list : Mira Rai, Christel Dewalle, Alicia Shay, Hillary Allen, Chris Vargo, Ruth Croft, Vajin Armstrong, Jo Meek, Nicolas Martin, mais aussi, Vanesa Ortega, Emmie Collinge, Luis Alberto Hernando, Miguel Angel Heras, Sylvain Court, Andy Symonds, Sage Canady, Pau Bartolo Roca, Zaid Ait Malek, Benoit Cori, Anna Frost, Anna Comet, Pascua Uxue Fraile et Martin Gaffuri.

Other races are also available for runners who don't want to start the Ultramarathon. Thus, this long trail-running week end will begin with the Vertical Kilometer Binter before the Marathon and Half Marathon distances. Demanding, challenging, but mostly mythical, no doubt that each participant, elite or amateur, will go beyond his limits to cross the finish line !

Trail des Coursières / France 

The participants to the Trail des Coursières will have the possibility to cross the Monts du Lyonnais, in France. This trail-running race takes place twice a year, during winter, and in May, when the snow has disappeared. If during the winter edition the distances are reduced to 15 and 30 Km, 47 and 102 km of trails awaits the riders this weekend.

And for those who still hesitate to discover the Lyon region through the trails, it should be noted that the benefits of the event will be used in favor of children and adults with disabilities to discover the mountains.

Salomon Hammer Trail / Denmark 

The Salomon Hammer Trail is one of the most technical trails that can be found on the Danish soil, with four races of 25, 50 km, 50 and 100 miles, and also registered as a step in the Danish Salomon Trail Tour.

The runners will run through the rocky part of the island of Bornholm, offering riders great views of the Baltic Sea, while they pass through the different rocky trails around the castle Hammershus.
