Races of the week - March 25-27
Each week, ITRA proposes to discover trail runnin races around the world. This week, we are going to travel from United States of America to China, but also Mexico and Spain... The world is trail-running !
Ultra Trail Muntanyes de la Costa Daurada / Spain
The Costa Daurada's Mountains Ultra Trail is the current Catalan Ultra Race Championship. This trail event reaches is fifth edition on April 2nd-3rd. The start and the finish line will be at the emblematic village of Prades (Tarragona). The UTMCD will allows runners to discover some of the most beautiful spots in the Costa Daurada's mountains.
The main race of the event will be the 90 Km (4500 D+), with 4 ITRA points for strong finishers. This year, the event will offers to runners a new distance, a 72 Km (3200 D+), with also 4 ITRA points on the finish line. For runners who prefer shorter distances, they will have the choice between a 46 Km, but also a 21 Km and a 10 Km.
Badger Mountain Challenge / USA
The 6th annual Badger Mountain Challenge will be held on March 25th and 26th. This fun local event will offer four different race distances (15 and 50 Km, 50 and 100 miles). Runners will participate to a growing event, that has a small town feel, but with all the support of a big trail-running race. The BMC is hosted by the Nomad Trail Runners of Eastern Washington, a local non-profit organization.
Badger mountain is the one place where walkers, hikers, and runners all converge in the Tri-Cities. This local mountain offers expansive views of the beautiful Columbia Bassin. The Badger Mountain preserve was establish in 2005 to ensure that this community has open spaces and magnificent views for outdoor recreation.
A portion of the proceeds from the BMC will be donated to the Friends of Badger Mountain and also the Washington Trails Association. The BMC is also offering a scholarship to any eligible high school student. For sure, it will be a fun day for all : even those who aren't competitive can just come and hike the course while enjoying the local ridges and open spaces.

Honey Terraces Trail Marathon / China
The Ultra Trail Run Marathon Alliance started in 2014 with the goal to share the challenging and beautiful landscapes of Yunnan (China) with runners all around the world. At the beginning with one marathon trail-running event, the UTRMA will now organize six unique marathons in 2016 (five in Yunnan and one in Beijin). The Honey Terraces Trail Marathon is one of them !
More than 300 runners, from China, Malaysia, Japan, are already registered for the Honey Terraces Trail Marathon. The race will start the 26th March on the morning. All runners will run on the Hani terrace tourist area, which is one of the world heritage places...

Pentamontaña / Mexico
Certainly one of the challenges most demanding in northern Mexico ! The Pentamontaña is a trail-running race consisting in of five ascend mountains over 3500 meters above sea level, 120 Km and 7023 D+.
To be finisher of this difficult race, runners will have to reach the finish line in less than 36 hours... Fortunately, during all the race, runners will have the chance to enjoy countless landscapes and villages in different types of terrain.
