About the Race

The 21k Mountain Run is designed for beginner trail runners and intermediate and advanced trail runners who would like to push the pace over a runnable mountain course. With 1690m of elevation gain and loss it is no slouch but with nice rolling trails at the river valley this promises to be both a fast and a punishing run as well. The 21k highlight is the climb up to the village of Ambasa –which is also the first hard climb for the 50k runners with over 500m of gain in less than 3kms this is a steep climb but you will be rewarded at the top of the hill with beautiful views of the entire Agno River valley and the village of Ambasa dotted with villages and rice fields and if you look back towards wester horizon you can see the coastline of Ilocos, La Union, and Pangasinan with the Philippine sea glistening in the sunrise as well as the Cagayan valley to the east. It is in many ways a celebration of nature coming together on this island paradise in the orient. Mountains and seas, you can practically follow the river path down to the sea from here. The downhill will take you down a different route around the village of Lusod and back to Tinongdan village.
