Tihiorace X-Ultra 186km 2019

Η εκκίνηση θα δοθεί στην Στρώμη. Εδώ πρέπει να εφοδιαστούμε πλήρως γιατί θα ακολουθήσει η πολύ μεγάλη ανάβαση της Γκιώνας. Αυτό θα είναι και το πιο άγριο και απομονωμένο τμήμα του αγώνα (27χλμ). Ακολουθούμε ανηφορικά το μονοπάτι Ε4 και στο 3οχλμ πιάνουμε το χωματόδρομο. Στο 4οχλμ στρίβουμε δεξιά και μετά από 1χλμ. (σταυροδρόμι) πάμε αριστερά ανηφορικά προς σπηλιά Meyer. Αξίζει να πούμε εδώ ότι περνάμε δίπλα από την σπηλιά όπου κρυβόντουσαν οι Άγγλοι σαμποτέρ του Γοργοποτάμου το 1944. Εμεί κόβουμε τις κορδέλες του χωματόδρομου από παλιό ανηφορικό μονοπάτι. Μετά το 8ο χλμ μπάινουμε πλέον σε σκληρό μονοπάτι που θα μας οδηγήσει στην περίφημη Βαθιά Λάκα. Μπροστά μας έχουμε την κάθετη βραχώδη ορθοπλαγιά (400μ.) της Πυραμίδας. Το μονοπάτι κυκλώνει από ανατολικά. Στο 11ο χλμ φτάνουμε στο διάσελο Πλατυβούνας – Πυραμίδας. Προσοχή εδώ γιατί θα πρέπει να ανεβούμε στην κορυφή και έπειτα να επιστρέψουμε σε αυτό το σημείο για να φύγουμε νότια προς το Καταφύγιο Γκιώνας.

The starting point is in Stromi. Participants are encouraged to stock up, as the great ascent on Giona comes immediately next. This will be the most challenging and isolated part of the race (27km). First we follow the E4 path, and at the 3rd km we take the dirt road. At the 4th km we turn right and, after 1 km (crossroads), we take a left turn to head upwards to Myer's cave. It is worth noting here that we will pass from the cave that served as a hiding place for the British operatives of Gorgopotamos in 1944. We then cross the dirt road tapes from an old uphill footpath. After the 8th km, we now come to a hard trail leading to the famous Vathia Laka. Ahead of us rises the vertical rocky peak of Pyramida (400m). The trail circles it from the east. At the 11th km we reach the col of Platyvouna – Pyramida. Attention is required here, as we will have to go up the peak, then return to this point in order to head south towards the refuge of Giona.
