The 2nd Edition of 9-Peak 100 Global Trail was held during 3th-5th Jan, 2020. The race is located at Maoxian, Sichuan, China, where is the birthplace for ancient Shu culture and only 3-hour drive from the capital city of Sichuan Province, Chengdu. As a globally unique case of winter high-altitude icy trail running race, the longest distance group in 2nd Edition escalates from 50km to 100km. Apart from 35km and 10km groups remaining from last year, more distance choices are added such as 80km and 20km in order to satisfy different needs from runners. 9-Peak Mountain was voted as “One of the ten non-famous mountains” by Chinese National Geography. The first edition race in 2018 made it more known to the public. The second edition continues to bring out the most exciting package for runners, including a unforgettable gate-opening ceremony of Qiang’s castle, all the way to Yak’s Kingdom, Horses’ Kingdom, 4000m highland lakes and finally a 4100m Hero Peak to view the 9-Peak Mountain from a very close distance. The 50k course is classic and fundamental to the whole race. It is called ‘diamond course’ as the snow and ice will shine all the way. 100k and 80k select trails which are safer, still challenging, and more runnable for the last-half of the race. 35k’s course is optimized for runners to get to the higher altitude and better sceneries above the cloud sea. This is a spiritual journey. This is a trail for hero. All the runners are just like the legendary figure from Qiang’s epic— Ranbiwa, who climbed to the sky and stole the fire from heaven to enlighten and warm the icy world. After this race, all the runners will bring back their own fire to their life.
