大姚百草岭登山大会创办于2004年，多年来在桂花镇人民政府和大姚县教育体育局的大力支持下，获得了良好的赛事口碑和社会声誉。2016年-2023年大姚百草岭登山大会连续八年被评为“云南省级体育旅游精品赛事”，2018年被评为国家级体育旅游精品赛事。

赛道沿途经过上坪村、利的么、味尼乍等彝族古村落。赛道主要由原生山径道路组成，途经3公里高山草甸和4公里山谷河流，路面丰富且富有挑战性。

The track passes through Shangping village, Lidimer , Weinizha and other ancient villages of Yi nationality. The track is mainly composed of original road.
