About the Race

55 km – Fýri Ultra Fýri Resort is the starting point of the Fýri Ultra. Here, you’ll run on asphalt, gravel, and wide trails for the first 7 km before you reach Ullsåk, where you will pass RV52 and start your first real climb. Now, about 12 km of fantastic mountain trail awaits before you end up in Hemsedal Village and some well-deserved gravel roads up to Fýri Resort, where you have your only drop zone and second energy station. After leaving Fýri for the second time you will share the trail with runners from the 29k and 18 k race. The first 4k after Fýri you’ll run on asphalt, gravel, and wide trails before you reach the challenging and technically demanding “Queen of the Hill” special stage, featuring a steep, 3-kilometer trail with 550 meters of elevation gain. At the summit of the mountain, you’ll find the third energy station, and then you’ll move on to the next mountain with some 150 meters extra elevation gain. When you reach the peak Røgjin at 1350 meters, you’ll enjoy a beautiful downhill run for 2 kilometers before crossing the gravel road and starting the Fýri Trail 18k, “the easy path”. The Fýri Trail 18k “the easy path” starts at 12:00, so this part will be a bit crowded if you pass this section during the lunch hour. You will also find the fourth energy station! Gather your strength, for the next 13 km you are about to experience the majesty of Norway’s wild nature! Trek through mountain trails and make your way to picturesque lakes and enjoy one of the best trail running experiences in the Nordic region. The last leg of your journey will feature a steep, 34% gradient trail that will lead you to the Hemsedal Ski Resort. Once you arrive at the ski resort, you will find the fifth and final energy station, where you can restock before taking on the 4 km downhill segment of Master of Disaster. Race downhill to Fýri Resort and cross the finish line with a bang! And then, the “Mud & Champagne” after-run party can begin! At the summit of the mountain, you’ll find the first energy station, and then you’ll move on to the next mountain with 1 kilometer and 150 meters of elevation gain. When you reach the peak Røgjin at 1350 meters, you’ll enjoy a beautiful downhill run for 2 kilometers before crossing the gravel road and starting the Fýri Trail 18k, “the easy path”. The Fýri Trail 18 k “the easy path” starts 12:00, so this part will be a bit crowdy if you pass this section under lunch hour. You also find the second energy station!
