About the Race

Hólmheiðar race Fram and UltraForm will be held for the second time on Thursday, June 29. The race is an off-road race, but held in the capital area and is therefore accessible to anyone who wants to try an off-road race. The first part of the race 0-10 km: The race starts at the UltraForm Gym in Kirkjustett 2-6 in Grafarholt, the race starts on a large car park where the first 5-600m start on asphalt before heading towards Hólmheiðinn. After the asphalt section ends, there is a good 500m hill that you should not go up too fast. The next race is the Paradíssarhringur, which counts 3 km and is all off-road with ascents and descents, but quite comfortable paths. After Paradísarhringinn, you come to a dirt road/street called Mjódalsvegur, and that road is run for 1 km before turning off the road and heading towards Hólmsheiðarvegur, where the run is approx. 2 km along comfortable gravel and off-road trails. When you get to Hólmheiðarvegi, run a short section on the road before heading into the forest and towards Reynisvatn. When you get to Reynisvatn, run around Reynisvatn (two laps) on a comfortable gravel path and then 1 km on pavement and street before turning off the road and running the 10 km route towards Úlfarsfell. Second part of the race 10-22 km After turning off the road, run on grass up to Úlfarsfell road before heading to Úlfarsfell. On Úlfarsfell road, there will be a refreshment station for competitors before heading up to Úlfarsfell. After the drinking station, a 4 km loop begins with just over 200m of ascent. That loop is run twice, where you run up to Úlfarsfell on a path that runs on the left towards Mosó and then up to the Úlfarsfell sign before heading up to the new viewing platform that stands at the top of Úlfarsfell. After completing two such laps, the race is run back down the path that leads towards Fram and finishes at the new football field at Framheimilin, where the goal will be in the middle of the field along with a drink station.
