About the Race

Gyðjan er 100 km fjallahlaup með 3000 m hækkun. Hlaupið hefst við Goðafoss og þaðan er hlaupið yfir Belgsárfjall yfir í Fnjóskadal, þanað yfir Vaðlaheiði til Akureyrar, upp á bæjarfjallið Súlur, inn á Glerárdal og að lokum niður í miðbæ Akureyrar.

Gyðjan is an 100 km mountain run with 3000 meters of elevation gain. The race starts at Goðafoss one of Iceland's biggest waterfall. From there runners run over the mountains Belgsárfjall to Fnjóskadalur, over Vaðlaheiði, and up to the mountain Súlur. From Súlur runners follow the mountain ridge into Glerárdalur and then run down Glerárdalur and end in Akureyri city center.
