About the Race

CM5 is to CM6 not as Robin is to Batman. It's slightly shorter but just as burly and very mean. As with every CM6 distance, the first hurdle is a 10km hike to the Hmong village (the HQ) situated at around 1400m above mean sea level. First time out from the HQ, you will be using the village road to go up Doi Pui Campground and ascend further to the summit of Suthep. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting Doi Pui (1600+m above mean sea level) this year. The area near the summit suffered extensive damage from forest fire earlier in the year, and it needs some rests. You will then be making a long circular route heading to Pa Nok Kok Village and back to the HQ again. Leaving the HQ for the second time will see you descend towards Wang Bua Baan waterfall, down flowing dirt trails. Slower runners are likely to travel this trail in the dark. If you are on a slower-side, please make sure you have good-quality lighting equipment. You will need it. Once you hit the main road, you will start the ascend to Mon Tha Tarn Waterfall. The aid-station at this Waterfall is where your Special-need bag will be waiting for you (around 60km). Then more climb to the HQ to complete your second loop. Relatively runnable and the last out-and-back loop is to Hauy Tung Tao Reservoir. Situated at around 5 minutes drive from the Start/Finish area, this aid-station/check-point is convenient for your support to see you and make sure you carry on with the race up the final climb back up to the HQ. If you make it up to the HQ this time, the rest is all downhill. The way down to the Finish is technical in parts. Most runners will face this final home stretch sleep-deprived, so be extra careful!
