About the Race

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines, CM6-2 is a shorter version of CM6 - it shares the same route with CM4, but it is a different race. A 50 miler is a happy medium for many runners around the globe, and there is a good reason for it to be. The start is a 10km with 1000m of climbing to the Hmong village of Khun Xang Kien (the HQ). Follow in quick succession by a big circular loop to Pa Nok Kok Village, also a remote Hmong community. This one big round starts with a gentle incline to the Doi Pui Campground and ascend further to the summit of Suthep. Then you will be descending a relatively steep downward spiral through a lively Hmong village with stalls and shops. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting Doi Pui (1600+m above mean sea level) this year. The area near the summit suffered extensive damage from forest fire earlier in the year, and it needs some rests. Leaving the HQ for the second time will see you descend to a waterfall down rocky, twisty and rooty trails. Slower runners are likely to travel this trail in the dark. If you are on a slower-side, please make sure you have good-quality lighting equipment. You will need it. The last climb of the day will be from the Waterfall up to HQ. The way down to the Finish is technical in parts. Most runners will face this final home stretch in the dark, so be extra careful!
