After the first 10km with 1000m of climbing to the Hmong village (the HQ), the first challenge is an out-and-back loop; a quick descend to Monthatarn Waterfall. Rooty and dark, this short section is probably not the easiest. Going out from the HQ for the second time is a 12km descend to Huay Tung Tau Reservoir and ascend back to the HQ. The third time's a charm. Leaving the HQ this time will see you climb a steep slope to the summit of Doi Pui (1600+m above mean sea level) before losing all the elevation you have just gained, heading West and then hooking North along a narrow ridge to Pa Nok Kok Village. On the way back, you will be taking a slightly different route back to the HQ. Leaving the HQ for the fourth time, you will be heading South using the Last Man Standing Trail trail, which is famous for its technicality. The route is also long enough to justify a small water station around midway, Last but not quite the very last is another waterfall visit. Hauy Kaew Waterfall is 5 minutes drive from the City, and many runners gave in to the lure of their showers and beds. The drop-out rate at this aid station is by far the highest. One final climb from Hauy Kaew Waterfall to the HQ, and you will have only a short technical descend to conquer. The route down is non-trivial, but most will be glad to reach this point. The sight of the Finish Line will be so sweet - that much we can guarantee.
