La Veni Vici 2023

Le 27 km est le compromis idéal pour ceux qui n’ont pas encore les jambes pour faire l’intégrale VENI VICI (72 km) ou le 44 km entre Nîmes et Le Pont du Gard. Tu auras droit à un départ au pied du superbe Pont du Gard le samedi midi sous un (normalement) généreux soleil méridional, dans le sens inverse du parcours proposé l’an dernier. Tu seras d’emblée plongé(e) dans l’ambiance des vestiges de l’aqueduc romain, puis tu mettras le cap vers le village de Vers-Pont-du-Gard où tu longeras les carrières où avaient été extraites les pierres ayant servi à la construction du Pont du Gard (toujours en service). Tu traverseras ensuite les charmantes bourgades d’Argilliers et de Saint-Maximin, après quelques circonvolutions dans les collines qui sentiront bon le thym et le romarin. Ne restera plus qu’à surmonter le joli feu d’artifice final avec l’ambiance verdoyante de la vallée d’Eure où l’aqueduc de Nîmes prenait sa source, puis les ruelles médiévales du remarquable Duché d’Uzès où l’arrivée t’attendra. A toi 2000 ans d’Histoire et le sourire triomphateur, jeune centurion !

Why should runners have all the fun? This 27 km “nordic walking” event, intended for sports walkers who don’t like to dawdle, allows them to play with their time and their hiking stick (allowed but not mandatory) for those who wish to. For the rest, it’s the same as for the 27 km runners: departure at the foot of the superb Pont du Gard on Saturday noon under a (normally) generous southern sun, in the opposite direction of the course proposed last year. You will be immediately immersed in the atmosphere of the remains of the Roman aqueduct, then you will head towards the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard where you will walk along the quarries from which the stones used to build the Pont du Gard were extracted (still in use). You will then pass through the charming villages of Argilliers and Saint-Maximin, passing through the hills that smell of thyme and rosemary. All that will be left to do is to overcome the pretty final fireworks with the verdant atmosphere of the Eure Valley where the Nîmes aqueduct originated, then the medieval alleys of the remarkable Duchy of Uzès where the finish line awaits you.
