Ultra trail Stara planina 2024

Actually I am a big Balkan Mountain (which is my old name) and I embrace the municipalities of Zajecar, Knjazevac, Pirot and Dimitrovgrad. My most precious part is protected as Nature Park – natural resources of great importance of I (first) category with an area of 114,332 ha. My highest peak is Midzor – 2,169 mamsl. Juniper, hm, mischievous plant

About the Race

Penjete samom granicom Midžor – KT-1 13. km (samo kontrola) i odatle produžavate grebenom i uskim kozijim stazama iznad 1.800 m.n.v. sve do impozantnog vrha Vražije glave. 4 km do cilja preko Babinog zuba. Više informacija na ultrakleka.com

This is a real ultra, a combination of the last trails at 130 and 94 km! Amazing landscapes and a real challenge of 99 km with 4.700 m of ascent and descent (at least, that’s what our device has calculated) Path description Up to Plaža (first 4 km) the trail is the same. You may use water, no refill at Plaža allowed. After that, you will embark on the well-known macadam path leading uphill to Midžor, the highest peak of Stara Planina where CP-1 will be set. So, from Plaža you will separate from your colleagues running at 64 km race. The refreshment is 4 km before Midžor (9th km of the race – water and sweets, no refill, only limited consumption). At this point go left towards Vučje jame. You will then go up towards Midžor along the border path where CP-1 will be set at the 13th km (control only) and from there continue by the ridge and narrow goat paths above 1.800 mamsl all the way to the impressive peak of Vražije glave. There will be several springs and streams with drinking water along the way. Once you reach Vražija glava, do not go to Beleđe but continue towards Tri čuke where you will come across a “live crossroad” (with volunteeers directing you further) from where you will go downhill towards Međa planina to Belčin where CP-2 will be set at the 33rd km of the race. There you will have a drop-bag, masaage, warm food, refreshments. You will continue towards Arbinje and Dojkinci (there is water everywhere) going by a broad macadam path to CP-3 Dojkinci at the 45th km of the race. So, just go straight, there is no Sinošćir this time and you are not climbing towards Klisura from there. Time limit at Dojkinci – 11 hours from the start. Mountain lodge, food, refreshments after which you can continue towards Ponor (part of the trail that runners at 130 km race ran last year). At the 52nd km you will reach CP-4 Klisura where water and sweets await you. No Dabidžin potok this time, so form Klisura you continue uphill towards Stražna čuka and directly to Kopren plateau (the path from the first edition of 24h Kopren). You will pass by the spring of Tri kladenca where you can refill and by the narrow border path towards Tri čuke. There you will come to a “live crossroad” again, after which you will go down to Belčin dol for the second time where CP-5 will be set at the 64th km of the race. The limit here is 15 hours from the start, and again there will be a drop-bag, food, massage. You then go uphill to Beleđe and from there you go along the wide macadam path to Topli Dol where Cp-6 will be set at the 84th km of the race. The time limit here is 20 hours from the start. From there on you have 10 km to CP-7 at Plaža where water and food will be waiting for you (94th km of the race). Some 4 km more to the finish gate across the peak of Babin zub.
