WTR CHIAKSAN TRAIL RUNNING 2023

높이 1,288 m로, 차령산맥의 줄기로 영서(嶺西)지방의 명산이며 강원특별자치도 원주시의 진산(鎭山)이다. 주봉우리인 비로봉(飛蘆峰:1,288m)을 중심으로 북쪽으로 매화산(梅花山:1,084m)·삼봉(三峰:1,073m)과 남쪽으로 향로봉(香爐峰:1,043m)·남대봉(南臺峰:1,182m) 등 여러 봉우리와 연결되어 있다. 능선이 남북으로 뻗어 있으며, 동쪽은 경사가 완만하고 서쪽은 매우 급하다. 1973년에 강원도도립공원으로 지정되었으며, 1984년 국립공원으로 승격되었다. 큰골·영원골·입석골·범골·사다리골·상원골·신막골 등 아름다운 계곡과 입석대·세존대·신선대·구룡폭포·세렴폭포·영원폭포 등 볼거리가 많다. 이밖에 구룡사(龜龍寺)·상원사(上院寺)·석경사(石逕寺)·국향사(國享寺)·보문사(普文寺)·입석사(立石寺) 와 같은 오래된 절이 많이 있다.
